I can’t tell you how many times throughout this journey, I’ve had to say... I’m more than a doctor! I am me, Mikayla, and actually believe that to be true. So much of myself went into medicine, that I truly had no self-identity or with when my world came crashing down after being rejected from every medical school I applied to… 25 schools to be exact! For the last three years, my life felt as though it was at a standpoint, especially in my relationships and how I perceived love. The sad part is, I was so easy to give healthy love or so I thought, that I had a hard time receiving love, let alone help when I truly needed it. It took time, truly surrendering to God, to realize: Who I am, What I am worth, and my true value– identity! I encourage you, ladies, especially, and men to find yourselves in Christ first, yourself with you second, and your hope in your heart and all that is around you! Always remember, you have to water yourself before you can water another’s well within themselves. No matter the cost, always water yourself and love yourself the most.
